Born to promote the taste of the original flavors of Umbria worldwide, La Madia Regale is a brand of Athenor, a company based in Cerreto di Spoleto, a land of extraordinary beauty and great gastronomic wealth. Thanks to the fertility of its woods and mountains, truffles and other mushrooms grow here, along with prized vegetables, whose aromas and flavors can be captured in sauces, condiments, and preserves.
And this is exactly Athenor and its brand’s mission: selecting the finest and most sought-after raw materials and offering long-life products through innovative technologies that enhance the natural characteristics of food preserving the original flavors.
The products are microbiologically safe, without the addition of additives or preservatives, thanks to the heat treatments carried out, such as pasteurization and sterilization, but also thanks to a scrupulous organization of the production process.
Athenor exports to Europe, US and Canada; some specialties are intended for the final customer and others for restaurants: flavored extra virgin olive oils and salts, creams that preserve the goodness of truffles and respect the genuineness, dried porcini mushrooms in slices or granular, pasta sauces and pesto to enhance first courses, or sauces to accompany dishes and the refined Morellino, Chardonnay and Chianti jellies. And then nutritionally balanced ready meals, attentive to traditions, bronze-drawn pasta in the typical regional shapes and crackers in which the fragrance of the cereal blends perfectly with local flavors such as oregano, parsley, garlic and tomato, all strictly made in Italy.
One of the sector Athenor is paying attention to is the plant-based one. It’s full of solutions for food lovers who like to have a light environmental footprint or who make an ethical or healthy choice. In addition to the conventional production, there is also the certified organic production. These products can be stored at room temperature and with a minimum shelf life of several months or years.
Environmental sustainability is one of Athenor’s objectives. It implemented an environmentally friendly production process, through separate waste collection and the use of alternative energies, such as the photovoltaic system. Thanks to this system the Company is able to cover a large part of its energy needs. There is also another project that is underway and that will allow the recovery of the water used for the heat treatment, in order to limit the consumption of this precious resource to a few square meters per year.
